Eleventh International Conference on Food and Drink Studies: Call for papers and sessions
We are pleased to announce that the European Institute for Food History and Cultures (the IEHCA, Institut Européen d’Histoire et des Cultures de l’Alimentation) is organizing the eleventh edition of its annual international conference, to be held from Wednesday 10 June to Friday 12 June 2026 in Tours (France). The event is part of the ongoing activities organised by the Thematic Research Network led by the IEHCA and backed up by the Centre-Val de Loire region in pursuit of its editorial policy, support for research and efforts to facilitate networking opportunities among Food Studies researchers.
All proposals pertaining to Food Studies will be considered and all researchers are welcome (doctoral, post-doctoral, research lecturers, independent scholars etc.). Ultimately the conference aspires to be a multi- and cross-disciplinary event, covering all historical periods.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that this is an in-presence event, so anyone applying must be able to be physically present.
Two types of submission, with free choice of subject, will be accepted:
⁃ Individual submissions. Download application form.
⁃ Submissions for “panel” sessions on a given theme. Download application form.
Sessions will last 90 minutes in all. They should comprise a chair and two papers of 30 minutes each in length or three papers of 20 minutes. The rest of the allocated time being devoted to a Q and A session. Papers may be presented in English or French.
Please note:
- Chairs will not be allowed to present a paper in a session they moderate.
- It is not possible to give two presentations during the conference.

Acceptances will be sent by the end of December 2025.
Please take note that conference participants' expenses cannot be covered in whole or in part by the IEHCA.
Registration fees going towards the refreshments served during the conference and the “aperitif dinatoire” party held in the garden of the Villa Rabelais:
- For those who pay their registration fees before 31 March 2026: 50 euros for non-tenured researchers / 100 euros for tenured researchers.
- After this date, the fee will be 80 euros (non-tenured researchers) or 120 euros (tenured researchers).
- Applicants who have not paid their registration fees by 30 April 2026 will not be able to take part in the convention.
Refunds are not possible in case of withdrawals.
